In the densely developed residential quarter of Kuonimatt, a surprisingly spacious, park-like green area has been left open, which belongs to a primary school that was built in the 1950s. The intention of rezoning this space through building measures without affecting its open character led to a pavilion-like architecture that has the effect of an installation with an atmosphere that is inspired by the existing location. Based on a tree-like supporting structure made of steel, the hall can provide differently formed interior and exterior spaces in a playful way. The structure and cladding underline the impression of an installation that remains balanced, thereby symbolically reflecting the dynamic activities inside.
We are delighted to announce that our proposal for the new water sports base at la Jonction in Geneva has won the open competition among 73 national and international entries!
The design, in the breathtaking setting where the Arve and Rhone rivers converge in the city, is based on a concept of circular reuse. In the spirit of urban mining and to largely reduce gray energy, our project called "OBJETS TROUVÉS" proposes the conversion of an existing office building and the reuse of long-span steel trusses from a nearby dismantled hall.
